Lane DeVries, born and raised in Holland grew up in a family that had been in flower farming for four generations. DeVries immigrated to the USA in 1983 with $160.- in his pocket. Started working at Sun Valley in 1984, first as Lily grower than operation manager to general manger and in 1991 bought the company together with two partners from Holland. Married with wife Kathryn for 31 years, and blessed with two adopted children Tony (23) and Sarah (21).
DeVries is an elder at the Eureka Presbyterian church, in the Spring of 2015 he was asked if he would volunteer to preach at a sister Presbyterian Church in Blue Lake Ca. His first inclination was: hey I am just a flower farmer, not a theologian, but after some reflection concluded: it doesn’t take a theologian to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Look at the disciples; they were mostly fishermen, but extremely effectively in spreading the message of the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Since his first Sermon on Mother’s Day in 2015, Lane has continued to spread the good news at churches throughout Humboldt county. From the very beginning, Lane was recording his sermons and sharing them with close friends, family and colleagues throughout the world.
